Foil Technique and Supplies
|
To add shimmering depth to your fabrics, consider foiling.
Foiling is a fast and easy special effect technique
using an iron-on product resembling shiny cellophane. The foil is available
in both solid colors and patterns.
This sample was created by using a purchased commercial stamp to apply foil adhesive to a base fabric.
To the adhesive, first gold foil, then fuchsia and last,green, was applied.

– Cotton, silk, ultra suede, synthetics, sheers with smooth surfaces and many more fabrics work very
effectively with foil.

Flowers created by using chrysanthemum stencil, foil
adhesive mixed with blue opaque fabric paint,
and gold foil.
– Some high pile or fuzzy naps such as fleece or wool can be foiled, but the image will be blurry.
So it's best to use very simple shapes and accept some raggedness around the edges. Please
