Painted Block Workshop
3 hour workshop
Using paintstiks, stamps, and fusible web, learn Laura Murray’s “Stackers” technique, which uses layered squares and triangles to create the appearance of intricate detail in traditional quilting block designs. Sewing is not required because the blocks are assembled on a base fabric using fusible web. The Stackers technique is fun, easy to learn and produces amazing results.

The uniquely shaped stamps can be used to quickly and easily produce seemingly complex kaleidescope stars, and other images such as borders, fish, birds and more. With no need for complicated piecing or precision piecing, anyone can bring the “wow” factor to quilting, clothing or home dec projects.

Half day workshop
Using Shiva Artist Paintstiks, learn how to create subtle batik effects on plain fabrics, or produce dramatic prints. The techniques are fun to learn, and the hands-on approach will give you confidence to make the fabric of your dreams. Using paintstiks actually saves money, because you can make the “perfect fabric” for your project, which minimizes the stash of unused fabric, and desperate dashes to the fabric store. Students will create a series of samples illustrating the techniques, and receive many ideas for practical applications from the instructor.
