As someone who enjoys layering various mediums on fabric, I decided to satisfy my curiosity about Intense pencils by using them with paintstiks and my new stencil coleus leaf stencil design. Inktense is an ink, and produces brilliant color after water is applied. This process is best done on light colored fabrics, and the results are permanent.
Step One — stenciled using iridescent red and sapphire paintstik colors.
Step Two– Colored in the veins with Inktense Apple green pencil.
Step Three — Added water to the Inktense color. I used a water pencil, but a small brush dipped in water works just as well. This is a really good way to add additional color to the open spaces in a stencil, since it would not be possible to do this with paintstiks on a stencil brush and keep the color inside the lines.
